This is a scheme operated and administered by Hope2540 but underwritten and guaranteed by the Salvation Army, who offer a rent in advance which is paid direct to the Landlord along with the deposit, which is held as a bond.
The applicant applies to Hope2540, fills in a from and signs our terms and conditions. We then carry out our investigations regarding the suitability of the applicant for our scheme. If we feel that the person is suitable, we will make the arrangements to contact the Landlord, arrange a viewing and deal with the tenancy agreement. Once a date has been set, the rent in advance will be paid direct to the Landlord, with an undertaking for this to be returned at the end of the tenancy, or 7 days prior to the to the end of the rental period if the tenancy is extended.
Should the tenant be in need of Housing benefit this can be paid direct to the Landlord and therefore, we can arrange this, in co-operation with the Local Authority, when filling in the relevant forms. For full terms of the Rent Deposit Scheme, please click here for our PDF.
